Chrysler Repair: Blown crankshaft oil seal and pan on 94 Dakota truck, wheel drive cars, rear wheel drive cars

Question
I have a 94' dodge dakota truck with front seal leakage and
oil pan gasket or seal leaking. Is it a difficult job to repair both of these in a day. I don't have a shop manual
and need detail instructions. Can you help?

Answer
Hi John,
You may not have read in my statement of expertise that I don't have information about trucks or their engines. About the only manual I have is for the rear wheel drive cars from 1983 and those use either a 226 in-line 6 or or a 318 V-8. If you have either of those engines I could xerox the pages about the seals and pan and postal mail them to you. Otherwise I can't be of help. You might take a look at the Haynes manual that covers the Dakota trucks (#30020) thru '96 as I have found that the Haynes people do a good job for a modest price compared to factory shop manuals. You mught also check with you local library to see if they have any truck repair manuals that apply. So let me know if you have either the 226 or the 318, or perhaps you have the same engine as is used in one of the front wheel drive cars? I could help if that were the case. If you want to get back to me use the "rate the expert" tab and use the comments section to tell me about your situation, and an address if you want the copies.
