Chrysler Repair: 96 2.5 sebring cuts off, fuel pressure gauge, cat converter

Question
about a month ago, the car ran out of gas and I refilled it and since then it has had problems, when we put in 3 gallons, immediately the car would turn over and barely run, when you mashed the gas it would stall and sound like it was dieseling, no power to power the car, and once it sits after an hour or so it runs fine.  I have had a tune up, new timing belt,   plugs wires, and dist cap etc, the dealer cleaned the injectors, and installed a new cat converter,   car runs fine and then it does the same thing,  hardly no power, they have run the codes and it was inconclusive. never had a problem with car at all until it ran out of gas that time. this is so frustrating,   The dealer just wants to try things until its repaired, that could cost a fortune,   so you think the problem could be the  fuel pump,  I had installed a new fuel filter aprox 500 miles ago.   please help thanks!~

Answer
There isn't an easy answer to this especially not having the car in front of me.But I will tell you this. The first thing I would have done is put a fuel pressure gauge on the engine and see what it looks like when the problem occures.Secondly if the dealer is replacing these items saying it will repair the condition. Then you should not have to pay anymore money, because they did not fix the problem. When I make a mistake the customer does not pay for it.One other thing....If you have the fuel pump replaced.Tell them to make sure there is nothing floating around in the tank that could be obstructing the fuel pump at that level.
