Chrysler Repair: 1990 LeBaron Relay Panel, turn signal flasher, hazard flashers

Question
Hello Mr. Finston, I have been reading some of your answers regarding Turn Signal Flasher problems others have had.  My 1990 Lebaron Coupe has working right turn signal and all the bulbs flash with the hazard flashers on.  However, I have no left turn signal.  My questions are: (1.) Could you tell me what all the 11 relays (which ones are which) are on the relay panel.  There are 5 black relays in the yellow panel and 6 in the red panel?

(2.) Can the the yellow control module on the right side of the steering column (flasher/signal) be half bad allowing the right turn signal to work but not the left? Thank You Very Much. Dewey

P.S.I've ordered a new turn signal/high beam switch (the one mounted in the dash) but I thought I would try other things while I'm waiting and maybe solve the problem and end up with and extra signal/beam switch it does seem a little fragile.

Answer
Hi Dewey,
That set up is really very complicated with two separate switches with unusual functions. Your problem could either be with the dash-mounted switch or with one of the units in the relay bloc called the "diode package". I suspect is it the former, not the latter because the hazards work at all four corners but not the turn signals. I would begin by testing the switch.
Remove it from the pod. Then test for continuity as follows:
Looking at the 14-way plug-in area (and keeping the white 7 pin plug attached), the large pins are numbered 1 and 14 with the pin 1 being at the bottom left, then count the pins clockwise ending with 14 at the bottom right. With the switch set for left turns you should have continuity between 7 and 11 and between 7 and 14, and with the switch set for right turns you should have continuity between 8 and 11 and between 8 and 14. If you have that, then I would suspect the diode package in the relay block is bad.
The relay block sockets are numbered 1-17 starting at the rear of the top row and going forward to #4, then to 5 at the rear of the second row, etc.
The assignments are:
1 power antenna
2 high beam hdlp
3 low beam hdlp
4 horn
5 ADL unlock
6 ADL lock
7 parking
8 timer relay
9 right rear turn/stop
10left rear turn./stop
11diode package
12right front turn
13left front turn
14 fog lamps
15front washer
16rt corner lamp
17left cornering lamp
The signal for right or left turn goes from the dash switch to the diode package on two separate wires and from there on two separate wires to the relay for the respective lamps. Because the hazards work, I doubt it is the relays. Thus my conclusion that the diode for the left turn lamps in probably bad in the diode package. But I can't guarantee that is correct. But start with the switch and see if you get the continuity as listed.
