Question
I have a 95 cirrus and while it was running i noticed one of the spark plug wires wasn't down all the way.I pulled the wire off and the car shut off before i could seat the wire back on the spark plug.I put the wire back on but the car doesn't start anymore. Can you help me with this problem?

Answer
Hi Art,
If you pulled on the wire only, and not on the rubber insulator cap that attaches to the spark plug you may have broken the connection between the wire and the actual electrical contact that clips onto the spark plug. So if you have any kind of ohmmeter or continuity tester and measure between the post inside the cap for the plug wire in question and the contact inside the spark plug insulator cap. I would be inclined to check for that possibility if nothing else turns up, but it does requiring alot of dismantling to reach the cap (you might be able to remove the wire from the cap without taking off the cap however). But before getting into that:
I would try to find out whether the engine controller noticed something at fault and stored a fault code in its memory. Take the ignition key: "On-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing this in 5 seconds or less. Then watch the check engine light which will be "on" to begin to flash, pause, flash, pause, etc. Count the number of flashes before each pause. Then repeat to verify an accurate count. Then pair up the number in the order they readout to form the two-digit fault code numbers. Then write back or go to

Let me know the codes and I can give you some direction.
Was there a reason that you were under the hood looking at the spark plugs before this happened? Any other relevant history? And which engine do you have?
