Chrysler Repair: 99 BREEZE TRANS, counterclockwise fashion, plymouth breeze

Question
HOW ARE YOU SIR? IHAVE A 99 PLYMOUTH BREEZE THAT DOESNT WANT TO SHIFT OUT OF FIRST. ALSO THE SPEEDO AND ODOMETER ARENT WORKING. CODES P0700,P0720 AND P0731 ARE STORED. IS THIS A INTERNAL PROBLEM OR IS IT A MODULE?
THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

Answer
Hi Nick,
I'm doing pretty well, thanks for asking.
I think everything points toward the output speed sensor on the automatic transmission having failed (or it might be its wiring so look at that too, but in all likelihood it is the sensor proper). The trans needs it to know when to shift as does the speedo/odo for then to run at all. It is on the side of the trans that faces the front of the car and has the dipstick and the gearshift 'tower', all the way at the driver's end of that side, about midline. The two wires are light green/violet and dark blue/brown. It screws out in the normal counterclockwise fashion. So if the wires look good I would get an replacement at a dealer. The plug probably has a lift tab to release it, so lift that gently as you pull outward on the plug so the tab isn't damaged. I doubt it has anything to do with the internal parts of the trans, which is very fortunate.
