Chrysler Repair: Cirrus ac/heater blower only runs on high, air distribution system, chysler

Question
I have a 2000 chysler cirrus and my ac/heater only works on high. Could you tell me what the prob. is?

Answer
Hi George,
The problem is the resistor block which changes the voltage to get the different fan speeds is burned out. First you remove the right underpanel silencer/duct so you can see heater/ac the unit. You will find it on the lower surface of the air distribution system under the dash, at the right side of the unit very near the blower motor housing. It's plug has 5 wires and it is located so the resistors are inside the air duct that gets air from the blower (to cool them). It is held in the duct by two screws whose heads are pointed down. Just loosen the screws and the block will drop out of the duct. Then either get a used one at a wrecking yard or buy a new one at a dealer.
This is a common problem that is solved easily.
