Chrysler Repair: serpentine belt help, serpentine belt, right angles

Question
Well I put the old frayed belt back on and it keeps getting cut by the back bottom pulley yet all pulleys are linned up. Is it because the belt was already peeling or is it because I need a new special belt that fills in all the groves because the noise is gone? Or is it the belt tensioner pulley assembley that does not come off the block yet I got the top smooth pulleys off my other van waiting for as tranny fix and they are in great shape. And as I said before only the other smooth small top pulley not the tensioner was broke with the guts ground out.

Answer
Hi Lawrence,
Without seeing the engine I am at a disadvantage in giving you any useful advice. If the noise is gone I would be inclined to get a new belt that is the correct one for your engine and give that a try. As long as the pulleys are all in the same plane and their axes are at right angles to that plane it should be o.k. I hope you have fixed it.
