Chrysler Repair: Is this a transmission problem? 04 Pontiac, new car warranty, pontiac vibe

I have 04 pontiac vibe automatic , runs great but only have problem when it had heavy rain. My car would sounds like having a flat tire, and the more I step on the gas the louder the noise goes. I have pay attention to the RPM too, It was going around 40MPH and the pressue in between 4.5 -5 very high. what I usually do is to stop complete, then go again and the noise disappear and everything goes normal again. My question is would it be my transmission ? it fail to detect highter gear when it get wet ? I appreciated your answer Thanks

Let me first say that Pontiac is made by General Motors Corp., not Chrysler Corp., so I don't know much about your car. It does sound like it is not shifting gears when it is exposed to water. That may be due to an electrical connection that is not properly closed together so that water is shorting an electrical current between two wires. I wonder if the car may be new enough to still be covered by the manufacturer's new car warranty? You could inquire at a dealer or with General Motors Corp. in Detroit to find out. Perhaps the repair will not cost you anything. So give that a try and I hope that it will be fixed for you.
