Chrysler Repair: drive shaft, chrysler concord, axle shaft

Question
98 chrysler concord 3.2 engine. I've attempted to put new drive shaft on rt. side. How do you get the old one out from the transmission? It is hanging free except for the inside spline.

Answer
You'll have to take a pry-bar and pop it loose.  The axle shaft will be the female side and the transmission will have the male side on the LH platform I beleive.  The shaft sticking out of the trans will have splines leading almost out to the end, a groove and then just a bit more of splines.  In this groove there will be a spring c-clip which prevents the shaft from sliding all the way out easily.  Once you POP the axle free it will slide the rest of the way on there.

On reinstallation you will want the shaft as straight as can be and POP it back on making sure it clicks going back on.
