Chrysler Repair: E10 gas and Check Engine Light (CEL), chrysler sebring, evaporative emissions

Question
My car is a 2002 Chrysler Sebring with 90,000 miles.

As the Northeast US began to convert its gas supply to E10 late last year, I was using Mobil gas regularly and the check engine light came on.  After a few fillups, I happened to fill up at a Shell station and the engine light almost immediately went off.  I then resumed filling up with Mobil and noticed that the light came back on.  I then realized that Mobil was posting Ethanol signs on its pumps.  This continued and so I switched to Shell which did not.  But in May, Shell converted, and the CEL came back on and has been on ever since!

So I've read about E10 and I think I understand the issue -- higher O2 content = lower emissions (and lower gas mileage!).  BUT ... now RI won't inspect my car for emissions until the CEL is 'fixed'!

What has to be done to address this?  Is the only recourse to buy a new oxygen sensor?  Can it be recalibrated?  Is there some sort of an additive that will offset the higher O2 content and get the light to go off?  All I want to do is pass inspection.

Help!

Answer
Without knowing exaclty what the fault code is we're shooting in to the dark here.  You could have something as simple as a bad gas cap that doesn't seal all the time throwing an evaporative emissions fault code which has nothing to do with the type of gas you're running.  We need more info on this one.
Thanks,
