Chrysler Repair: 91 LeBaron ignition switch:no ac,radio,top,blinkers?, amp fuse, ac radio

I replaced the ignition switch a few months ago.Started having problems turning the key,was hanging up.Ihad no power to my blinkers,windows,top or ac & radio.I replaced the switch again & ignition box, same thing.Thought it was a broke wire,but can't find it in the stearing colum.can u help?

Hi Susan,
I think you have your finger on the problem. There is one section of the ignition switch that supplies power to fuses 1,2,5,6,7 and those fuses power all the circuits that aren't working for you. If you go back to the 7-wire disconnect plug for the ignition switch at the base of the steering column look for the following:
There should be 12v on the pink/black wire at all times; if you don't find that to be present then check the 50 amp fuse (#51) in the power distribution center under the hood that supplies the voltage to that wire at the ignition switch; it is probably blown. But before you replace it, I would pull the five fuses, then insert the new 50 amp and make sure it doesn't blow. Then turn the ignition switch to 'run' and check that 12v in now present on the black/orange wire at the adjacent position at the same plug. If it is then you should have power to the five fuse sockets I listed above and everything will work again. Put the 5 fuses back in, one at a time, and make sure that none of them blow. If one of them blows then there is a problem with that circuit.
My bet is the 50 amp fuse is blown.
