Chrysler Repair: AC Cutoff relay, radiator fan relay 1984/1985, dodge rampage, radiator fan

Question
Hi, I have a 1984 dodge rampage. I need to replace the ac cutoff/radiator fan relay. My factory service manual shows a 4 pin relay but I have two three pin connectors. The connector for pins 4, 5, and 6 is wide (about 1/2 inch between pin 4 and 6. The only 6 pin relays I have found have only about 1/4 inch between pin 4 and 6. These came from a 1985/86 charger/shelby and omni. Is there a wiring diagram for 1985/86 that show the 6 pin conections? I could use the relay with the narrow pins by splicing its connector into the current wider connector but dont want to wire it backwards. can you help?
Thanks,
Tom

Answer
Hi Tom,
I have the wiring diagrams for the '84 2.2L shelby and all other except shelby models and the same for '85  and '86. The '84  fan relay is a 3 pin with a seperate connector for a fourth pin (and with a second relay with a 3 pin plug for wide open throttle time delay if you have a shelby set up), while the latter year's have two 3-pin plugs for a different 6 pin relay, entirely.
I don't know exactly what is your problem but the Chrysler parts counter should be able to provide the proper relay unless there has been some modification of the Rampage after it left the factory. I can xerox and postal mail you these wiring diagrams so you can sort it all out. This would be much more efficient than trying to walk you through this by email. It will cost 4 cents per page for the copying and probably 63 cents to mail it to you which you can send back to me as stamps after you get the pages. So let me know a postal mailing address and I'll get them to you.
