Chrysler Repair: disabling theft system via body control module?, resistor value, electric locks

Question
Can I bypass the alarm, security circut from the BCM so that it won't activate the security and shut down the engine. Thank you Vaughn

Answer
Hi Vaughn,
Only vehicles from the late '80's to the mid-90's which had a separate theft module can be defeated as far as I know. Those you simply unplug WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING. Once the theft module was integrated into the body computer I have seen no information on disabling it. If you are not sure whether there is a separate theft module please tell me the year and model. The only way to get around it is to not invoke its use by never using the electric locks when exiting the vehicle. That in summary is the theft system defeat and by-pass situation. On some early integrated modeld you could by-pass a failed key lock switch wire connection by manually grounding the wire at the body computer. But even that was evidentally over-ridden by putting some resistor value in the door key lock sensor switch which thus required some voltage other than 0 (ground) to disarm the system. So let me know your year and model so I can speak to your specific situation.
