Chrysler Repair: Air Conditioning control panel LED wont stay lit, light emitting diode, fuse box

Question
When I push the AC button on my 95 Cirrus it won't stay lit

Answer
Hi Harry,
I don't know whether your problem is just the light emitting diode or whether the AC function itself does not stay on as well. Please clarify. The circuit is a simple switch that directs current from the blower motor which derives from fuse #1 under the dash through the LED and from there to the body computer pin 16 of the white plug, located behind the fuse box where is serves to report that the AC has been activated. Either the switch itself is not locking into the 'on' position or the LED is flakey or the dark brown/orange wire that connects the control panel to the body computer has a loose connection. So based on how the AC itself is working you can decide whether it is the switch, wire,  or the LED that is faulty. If you can be more specific as to how the blower, the AC etc. are or are not working I might  be able to give more advice.
