Chrysler Repair: Belt Noise, parallel alignment, power steering pump

Question
Hi Roland.  I have a 1995 Chrysler Labaron Convertible with a V6, that is making a loud squealing noise from the serpentine belt area.  When I spray a belt dressing on, it stops squealing for less than 30 seconds.  The belt was replaced about 10,000 miles ago.  Any help with be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave

Answer
Hi Dave,
You might want try to localize which of the pulleys is squealing by using a rubber hose as a makeshift "ear horn" to focus your hearing on each of the pulleys. I suspect you may find it to be the spring-loaded belt tensioner between the generator and power steering pump. Then look at the pulley where the squeal originates to see if it is out of parallel alignment with the plane of all the other 4 pulley that are also handling the belt. If it is, then that device may either be loose in its mounting or in the case of the the tensioner its pulley bearing or the tensioner arm/pivot may be worn out. Most such problems seem to be related to a worn out tensioner according to LeBaron owners with whom I have contact.
