Chrysler Repair: Dodge 1992 Shadow shift mechanism bolts, dodge shadow, gear mechanism

Question
My son owns a 1992 Dodge Shadow, suddenly his gears would not shift and were movable in every gear. Looking into the engine, noticed that the bolts or nuits holding the gear mechanism in place were missing. What are these bolts called? Putting the gear mechanism back into place, the gears were able to shift correctly, but we need to replace the bolts to hold this part in place. Not being able to find any mention in our Chilton's book, perhaps you can help.

Answer
Hi Mary,
I may be able to help you out on this, but I need to know which engine (4 or 6 cylinder) and whether the car has a manual transmission w/clutch, a 3-speed automatic (D,2,1) or a 4-speed automatic (OD,D,1)? Also, can you give me a better descripion of the gear mechanism (where is it located, what it looks like, how many bolts are missing, and what part of the mechanism do the bolts go thorugh/to and what part of the drivetrain to they attach the part to)?
If you have a Chrysler/Dodge dealer within reasonable distance you would as well be able to go to the parts counter and look at the parts diagrams and identify exactly which bolts are missing, the part numbers, and the size/thread numbers so you can either get them there or at a hardware store. I have the parts catalog for the '88 models and most likely I can find the part numbers if you can give me the specifics I ask for above.
