Chrysler Repair: 1995 Chysler Town & Country, wd 40, fuel mixture

Question
Pulled into a store and when I went to pull away, the engine died. I have a brand new fuel pump that is working, brand new coil that is getting spark to the plugs and I have put a screwdriver on the igniters to listen to them clicking. All fuses are good and nothing on the codes for me. It cranks but will not start up. If you could give me somewhere else to look or something else to try, I would sure appreciate it.

Thanks for your time.

Answer
Hi Brian,
No start with new fuel pump, spark, injector action, no codes, and good fuses...
I am thinking fuel mixture is off ratio. The possiblilities are that your egr valve is stuck ajar which dilutes the mixture so much as to prevent ignition or a MAP sensor that has gone off-value but not so much as to set a code. Take a look at the egr valve located in the return pipe from one of the exhaust manifolds to the intake/throttle body area. Inspect the stem between the valve body and the vacuum actuator, it has a circumferiential slot into which you can insert the tip of a screwdriver.  Use that to lever the valve open (against spring tension) and closed and verify that it is closing tightly. Then see if it will start better. If so, then squirt the valve stem with penetrating oil like WD-40 and keep moving the valve back and forth to free up its action. The MAP should read about 4.7V with the ignition switch on, and then see if it drops when you crank the engine over (probe the dark green/red wire with a pin to make connections for this voltage reading, to be compared with engine ground).
Finally when you said "nothing on the codes for me" I assume that you get 55 code ("end of readout"). If not then do it again until you the 55 for sure.
Just in case you might check the fuel pressure at the port on the fuel rail...the pump may not actually be putting out sufficient presssure. The pressure should be near 50 psi, but differs slightly from that depending upon which engine you have.
So those are my best ideas. Let me know what you learn. please.
