Chrysler Repair: fuel pump, chrysler lebaron, fuel pump relay

Question
I have a 1994 Chrysler Lebaron it turns over but will not start. I checked for spark and had it. I can't hear the fuel pump and can't smell any gas no matter how long I crank on it.I have also checked the fuse and relay for the fuel pump and they were good.

Answer
Hi Andrew,
I would check 40 amp maxifuse # 55 in the power distribution center, and if that is good verify that you  have 12v on pin 22 (the rearmost pin) of the fuel pump relay socket, and then I would use a jumper from 22 to 24 (frontmost pin) of that socket and see if you hear the fuel pump. If not, then the only possibility other than a bad pump is that the wire (dark green/black) from 24 to the pump is open or that the ground wire (black) at the pump is open. So check those possibilities and if the wiring seems to be bringing 12v to the pump when using the jumper at the relay (verify at the relay), then  you would have to conclude the pump is out.
If the pump works with the jumper, then the relay control circuit is faulty. That relay depends upon the controller grounding pin 25 of the relay socket and there being 12V on pin 21 of the relay socket via the ignition switch dark blue wire in the run and start position.
So do try to verify all that or alternatively jumper 12v direct to the fuel pump and see if it will fire up that way as a test of the pump. It may be that your pump just needs to be replaced.
