Chrysler Repair: radio problem, infinity system, infinity radio

Question
i have a 92 lebaron and i can't get any sound out of the radio. the power on the radio works, i've checked the fuse but still nothing.

Answer
Hi Adam,
I have the wiring diagrams for the two types of radios in the '92 LeBaron. The standard radio uses only one fuse, #27 because it has the receiver and amplifier mounted on the console chassis. The Infinity System splits the receiver and the amp and puts the amp in the trunk. That causes the need for a second fuse, #12 to provide power for that. So check that fuse as well. Then both units need to be grounded so there is a return path for the current to the battery - post. In the console unit there is a strap on the top unit that must be connected to the body at its other end. To check that you would need to remove it from the console. With the Infinity Radio the remote amp in the trunk has a ground via a black wire on the 6 pin plug (which only uses 2 of the 6 slots) which also should go to a body ground.
If you have the fuses o.k. and power is coming to the fuses, and grounds, then either the amplifier is not working or the plug for the speakers is disconnected.
So check out all those details to see which way to go with this repair.
