Question
The address is 254 E Rebound Road, Lancaster, SC 29720
On these pages does it show step by step how to fix the problem? We have a manual but it doesn't tell you how to fix anything...tells you to contact dealer. Thanks again for all your help...Jane

Question -
The LHS the air is always hot and it is digital readout. And it doesn't change if you try to turn the a/c on. Also on the LHS it will go off sometimes but not often, and yes it blows at high speed(on both cars)
The Concord has rotating Knob. it blows all the time, sometimes it sounds like it's trying to slow down, but it keeps blowing. even in the off position, it never stops while the car is running. I hope this helps...Thank you very much...Jane

Question -
We have a 1994 Chrysler LHS and a 1998 Chrysler Concord LXI. Both of these vehicles have the heat/air fan blowing all the time. On the LHS you can't change the temp or anything. On the Concord you can change the temps. I hope you may have a suggestion that will help to fix this problem...Thank you, Jane
Answer -
Hi Jane,
There are two types of heater/ac control panels in these cars one is conventional with temp control with a rotating knob or slider and the other is a digital readout of the temperature type called 'automatic temp control' unit. Please tell me which type is in each vehicle?
On the LHS the incoming air is always hot even if you select lower temperatures (but of course haven't turned on the AC)?
And when you say the fans are blowing all the time do you mean even when it is set to 'off' or do you mean it will blow only when turned to an 'on' position but always at high speeds? And is that identical in both cars?
These are all important questions for me to help you resolve the problems.

Hi Jane,
Because you have both kinds of units it will probably be most efficient for me to copy the pages from my '94 shop manual that covers all of the heater/ac control system (except for the parts about the refrigerant) and xerox copy and postal mail it to you. There are about 28 pages so the cost of copying and mailing will be about $2. You can send that back to me after you receive the pages. So just let me know a postal address to send them to. I don't have a scanner and my dial-up connection in any case is so slow that trying to fax or scan all these pages is not practical for me.

Hi Jane,
To keep these two cars heater problems separate and make the repair task tractable, let's deal with one at a time. Just keep responding to me via the follow-up question approach so we save the history. If when you try to respond you can't because I am maxed out, then follow the instruction at the bottom of my response so I will know right away that you have something to report.
Let's start with the '94 LHS with automatic temperature control. The failure to control temperature is something that we might find out how to fix by means of the self-diagnostic capability that is built-in to it. I have the manual for the '94 LHS and it describes how to get a fault code(s) that explains what is wrong to readout as a two digit number on the digital dial. A web site also has the procedure so let me refer you to it and then you can try it out and report back to me what code(s) you have learned are stored in the memory:
www.allpar.com/fix/codes-climate.html
is where you should go for the procedure. Then I can describe what you will need to do to fix that.
On the fan being on high speed all the time that is a problem with what is called the "blower power module". It is going to have to be replaced with either a new one from the dealer or a used one from a wrecking yard. You might want to check with the parts counter at the dealer to see what it costs. Tell them it is a '94 LHS with automatic temperature control and you are looking for a Blower Power Module. It may be so costly that you will want to get one from a wreck at a yard. It is easy to replace yourself so you can go to a yard that lets you remove the parts yourself to find a car of a similar age that has the ATC type of unit and take it out of it for practice. It will not be very expensive that way. I can send you the pages from the manual that show you where it is and what you do to get to it and remove it.
So I'll await a progress report on the '94.

Answer
Hi Jane,
Yes the pages are specific for how to do repairs. I'll copy them today and put them in the mail to you. My return address is on the envelope so if you will send stamps or a couple of dollars when you receive them I would be most appreciative.
