Chrysler Repair: 1989 Chrysler Dynasty, Front passenger door lock broken, latch assembly, pop rivets

Question
I need help to know how to replace the motor of the door lock. And how to remove the door panel. Thank, Mathieu

Answer
Hi Mathieu,
Fortunately I have the '89 shop manual so here is the procedure for removing the trim panel:
Remove speaker grille (4 clips)
Disconnect seat switch wiring (if equipped)
Remove courtesy lamp lens
Remove 2 armrest screws and single trim panel attaching screw forward of speaker. The single screw is forward of speaker and the two screws are in lower panel behind carpet
Remove switch bezel (5 clips)
Disconnect power window and door lock wiring
Remove trim panel (2 clips)
Disconnect courtesy lamp wiring

On the door lock motor be aware that the link from the motor to the latch is not separable and they must be removed as an assembly.
Here is the generic instruction for this:
Roll down watershield away from lower rear corner of door to reveal inside panel access opening
Disconnect motor lead wires
Remove motor bracket pop rivets, and disconnect latch from door frame
Remove assembly from door.

Assembly is the reverse. Note that rubber boot on motor will restrict motion if it is twisted.

If you haven't been able to check all these issues out I would delay buying a lock/latch assembly until the wiring from the body computer to the lock motor can be proven out as well as the boot issue.
