Chrysler Repair: 88 New Yorker electrical problems, trip odometer, cigarette lighter

Question
I just bought an '88 New Yorker for my son to use while practicing driving. The overhead instruments, radio and wiper motor are all non-functioning. Are these items related in some way? The digital dash works fine except for the trip odometer. The AC/Heater work fine also, as does the cigarette lighter.

There is also a shuddering in the passenger side front wheel when the car is under a load (going uphill or accelerating quickly). Is this a transmission problem or something like a strut? There is a little banging on bumps at slow speeds like the struts might be worn.

Answer
Hi Thom,
I am sorry for the delay in  responding, the server for the site was down or functioning unreliably.
On the electical problems, althought each of the units that is not working is on a different fuse circuit they share one thing in common: a ground wire that completes the return path to the battery. If you look under the dash along the steering column on its right side you should see a structural support nearby into which there is a black/light green wire crimped in a grommet and the grommet is attached with a screw to the support. Check the screw to make sure that it is tight and that the connection is clean and shiney.
On the shuddering while accelerating my thoughts are that it may be a constant velocity joint on the right side half axle that has a torn boot so the grease has spun out and left the surfaces dry of lubrication. So check that out and either replace the boot or the half axle if you find that one of the two boots at either end of the axle is torn.
Good luck and let me know if these suggestions are helpful or not.
