I get an intermittent batt light on my dash, but the battery seems to stay charged. I always have power to start. Some days the light comes on some days it doesn't. I also noticed my radio seems to loose power intermittently when that light is on. I am not sure they are related. Any advice or likely cause so I don't get stranded? I have a seperate problem with distributors if you can handle two. I had someone break my distributor trouble shooting a no start problem. It turned out I had a bad crank sensor. The new distributor lasted about a month and cam sensor went out. I replaced it at Autozone where I got the first one. The next one lasted about 2 days. I replaced it again, now a month down the road I am getting Cam sensor codes on OBDII again. What are the odds a nother distributor? I intend to go somewhere other than Autozone nest time.
Thank you for your help. Mike

Hi Michael,
I have the '95 Sebring shop manual. It has a troubleshooting tree for the charging system. It begins with evaluating the battery cabling and appearance of the case, cleaning the posts, etc.
Then check the drive belt tension.
Then check the wires elated to the generator.
Without an analyzer you can't check the waveform of the output, so remaining test is for voltage and current and voltage drop. I can xerox copy and snail mail you the pages for use in doing this if you would like them.
On the distributor, I would try and get the money back from Autozone and acquire a more reliable brand. But check the wiring from the sensor to the engine controller. Which engine do you have? I can tell you the pinouts for those wires so you can check continuity.

Answer
Hi Michael,
Now that I review the situation I recognize that I have the '95 and '97 diagrams and they differ, so I am not sure which applies to your '96 engine. So for now I would just examine the wires as far as you can into the harnesses and the plugs for any signs of damage.
