I would like to know if there is any way that I can disconnect the alarm. I can't drive the car because the car won't start. This has happened several times. I took it to where I got it he said he just opened the door and it was fine. I have done this too. It is fine then I turn the key and it starts all over again. The alarm goes off and the lights flash. Now the switch won't lock or unlock the doors. I don't have an owner's manual because I bought it used. Or if there is anything I can do to get it working the right way. This car is a 94' Labaron convertible.  Thanks for any information you can give me.

Hi Debbie,
Yes you can disconnect the security system but it is very important that when you do so that the engine is running at the moment you pull its 21-pin natural color plug from the module. If the engine isn't running when you pull the plug it will go into a deep lockdown which will likely require a tow to the Chrysler dealer to clear that situation. This is a security feature that stops thiefs from stealing the car by disconnecting the module.
To get to the module you need to remove the silencer pad located under the glove box opening at the lower edge of the dash. Then notice that when you open the glove box door there are screws all around the opening. Remove all the screws and box part will be removable from under the dash. You then have any empty glove box opening so that you can look behind and up where you will see bracket that runs laterally across the vehicle and on that bracket is where you will find the security module. To get to the plug-in that I described you may have to remove three screws to allow the bracket to drop down far enough to get at the plug. After you do that, start the engine and then and only then pull the natural color 21-wire plug out of the module. The other module that might be on that same bracket is for the remote keyless entry system but I don't believe that you have to do anything to it to defeat the theft system. Once you have it unplugged it is safe to shut off the engine and put everything back together.
Good luck on this project.
Roland          Hi again  Thanks for a quick response. The problem is I can't get the car to run. Is there a way that I can't get it started?  Thanks again  Debbie

Answer
Hi Debbie,
The system disarming is done by using the door key to lock then unlock either the driver or the passenger side door. I suspect that the wires from the the lock/unlock sensors at each door lock are broken. But try several times on both doors to see if you can't get the system to recognize that you locked and then unlocked the door with the door key. I believe that the warning light on the dash should go out if the system is disarmed. That is the only way to disarm the system if it is wired together properly. Other than that, you have to remove the door trim panel(s) and inspect the wiring from the door locks out thru the front of the door to the theft module. The probable place where the wires fatigue is at the front hinge area of the door that flexes everytime the door is opened. See if you can't get the system to recognize the disarming via the passenger side lock. That should have less wear and tear on it. Other than that I can send you the wiring diagram by postal mail and you can use that to trace the wires and figure out which wire is broken and then splice in a replacement wire for it.
I wish there were a simple fix but that is what needs to be done. Once you get it disarmed, either don't lock the doors, of if you do lock them by hand, NOT BY USING THE ELECTRICAL LOCKS.
