Chrysler Repair: Chrysler T and C fueling problems, filler nozzle, filler tube

Question
We have had problems fueling our 02 T and C. We have to pump very slowly, otherwise the pump shuts off as if the tank was full.  It takes 10 minutes to fill up. We had the fuel fill tube assembly replaced, however that did not fix the problem.  Any suggestions?  Thank you.

Answer
Hi Joe,
I have that same problem with an old BMW that has a very sharp turn in the filler tube just at the opening. I have tried to rotate the filler nozzle to various positions and also to push the nozzle into the filler hole less deeply with modest success. I believe though that the problem is with the sensitivity setting of the automatic shutoff and minimum speed of the delivery pump. I believe that you might try different stations to find one that has pumps that have a lower minimum rate of pumping so that it doesn't back up in the neck and thus call into play the auto shutoff. Stations with less modern pumps may cause less of an issue with this problem. So give those two approaches a try. I don't know of anyother way to beat it.
