Chrysler Repair: 94 Concorde overhead compass and thermometer, side kick panel, resistance changes

Question
I have a 94 concorde and it has the over head system thats gives you mileage, DTE, direction, and temperature.
The temperature is stuck at 44 degrees. Is there any way for me to reset this?

Thank you!

Answer
Hi Lance,
The temperature sensor or the wiring thereto is probably what is at fault. You can locate the sensor at the front of the vehicle, behind the front bumper to the right of center mounted on the backside of a heavy channel-shaped member that runs across the car near the radiator closure panel. It has two wires (violet/light green and gray/tan). It has a black disconnect plug. My reading of the manual suggests that it may simply not be doing its job, which is to change its resistance as the temperature in the area changes. So you could check this out by placing an ohmmeter across its two wires after disconnecting it and observing whether the resistance changes after you heat or cool it. If it remains virtually constant in resistance then you know it has failed. If it seems to change, then you could check the continuity between the other side of the black disconnect and the body computer (pin 15 of the bone color plug and pin 10 of the gray plug to that computer located on the passenger side kick panel). That computer digitizes the signal and sends it to the overhead console and the A/C unit on the digital data bus that carries alot of information about the engine and transmission and the body electronics. Because you are getting data about DTE it shows that the data bus is connected properly, so I suspect the sensor or its wires.
