Chrysler Repair: 03 T&C Steering Noise, cv joints, wheel bearings

Question
My 2003 T&C makes a groaning noise when veering to the right going about 15+ mph.  We checked the power steering fluid and discovered it was OK.  Any thoughts?

Answer
Again, I would try to localize the sound to help identify the source. It might be a slipping belt that powers the steering pump, but that generally is a squeeling sound.
If the sound has any clicking or growling associated with it that would be possibly a dry cv joint due to a leaky cv boot which has allowed the grease in the joint to spin out. So you could look to make sure that the 4 rubber boots on each end of the two driveshafts are not torn or have splayed grease on the chassis in their immediate vicinity. Cv-joints are more likely to be noise-producing when the wheel is turned from the straight ahead position.
Finally groaning is often the sound made by wheel bearings which have run dry so it could be that the wheel bearing at the right front has run out of grease or gotten roughened surfaces on it rollers but this groaning also should occur. but at a lower sound level, when the car is going straight. So listen carefully to make sure whether it also groans when going straight ahead or not. A front end alignment shop would be able to test drive the car and probably sort out which of these is the source.
