Question
1997 Chrysler Town & Country. Starts & Stalls As Though Anti-Theft Is Engaged. Computer Stores Code #66 (CCD Comunications Error) I Have Already Replaced Body Control Module & PCM. Also Have Tested Communication Lines With Ohm Meter. Vehicle Had No Problems For Approx 2 Weeks After Replacing Body Control Module,The Same Thing After Replacing PCM. No Problems For Approx Two Weeks. When Vehicle Acts Up Communication Between All Other Computers Is Lost,With The Excpetion Of The PCM.  Any Ideas?  Thank You.

Answer
Hi Gary,
I am not equipped with a van shop manual that includes the vehicle theft security system for the vans of '97 vintage. However, I do see that that system in the cars of the mid-90's has CCD bus twisted pair wires associated with its plug-in so it must be the case that the security module (located above the glove box I believe, but you have to remove the box to get to it) communicates with the PCM via the CCD. The 66 code really means that some info is not reaching the PCM from one of the other modules in the bus system and because your van is behaving as though the security has been breached I would suggest that you check the wiring from the CCD bus twisted pairs at the security module to verify the connections to the same wires at the PCM. You also could get a readout of the four digit P-type fault codes with a OBD-II reader which may give you an indication of which module is not getting its messages to the PCM if the theft module wiring seems o.k.
Please let me know what you determine is the cause of this.
In general, if you can identify which module isn't getting its data to the PCM by unplugging each module and seeing if the PCM puts out a fault for that modules absence, then either that module or its wires are bad. So maybe the thing to do is disconnect the theft module. But a large WARNING: only pull its plug (even to test the twisted pair) when the engine is running. If you pull the plug at any other time than with the engine running, the powertrain controller will treat you like a thief and shut down the engine controller until you re-program it with a Chrysler Diagnostic Readout Box (at a dealer in all likelihood). Did you perhaps disconnect the theft module plug without doing that in the past?
