Chrysler Repair: dash lights, chrysler cirrus, fuse block

Question
we checked the fuses, and are about to take chrysler cirrus 1997 to the dealer, because the gauge lights at night do not come on all of a sudden.  is there something else we could check before spending all that money?

Answer
Hi Karen,
The fuse for the lamps is #7 in the fuse block under the dash. Look at it carefully to be sure that the wire inside isn't cracked. Other than that, it will require checking the units that are operated from the fuse: the dimmer section of the headlamp switch, the body control module (next to the fuse box), the insturment cluster, and the ground wire. These are specific wires that could be checked with a voltmeter to solve the problem by yourself or a person familiar with a test instrument. So let me know if someone wants to try that and I can specify where to test for voltage.
