Chrysler Repair: Speed sensors, speed sensors, minute job

Question
We had our transmission rebuilt on our 1996 town and country 4 months ago. We broke down yesterday, called the shop and they told me that it was the speed sensor, should this have been checked during the rebuild? And what could we expect to pay to install a 35.00 part?

Answer
Hi Mike,
The sensors (there are two, an input and an output) either work or not, so checking may not have been relevant without a history of flakey behavior. They are mounted right on the outside of the trans and simply screw out and in after unplugging/plugging the connector wire. Should be a 10 minute job for a mechanic. 'Minimum' labor time would apply.
