Chrysler Repair: Cost to replace A/C compressor, roland roland, radiator fans

Question
How much should I expect to spend (parts and labor) to have the A/C compressor replaced on my 1999 Chrysler 300M?

Answer
Hi Charla.
I have not experienced that repair personally so I don't have any record to go by. My best suggestion is to check with 3 shops, and taking into consideration the quality of the compressor that is proposed for installation and its warranty as well as the reputations of the three shops then make your choice on those factors and their respective bids. You probably will get a lower cost at an independent shop rather than a Chrysler dealership.
I know it will be more than $200 and less than $700 but exactly where will only be known when you inquire.
There is also the question of whether you need the compressor. There are interlocks that prevent the compressor from operating unless there is sufficient coolant in the system and as well the radiator fans have to work for the compressor to be activated. Then of course the relay for the compressor clutch and the fans both have to work so just because the compressor doesn't kick in doesn't mean you need a compressor. So don't jump to any conculsion unnecessarily.
