Chrysler Repair: 95 cirrus transmission to 2000 cirrus transmission, solenoid valve, obd ii

Question
is the 1995 2.5L  trans the same as the 2000 2.5L trans  both are for a cirrus

Answer
Hi Joey,
That question is a little more detailed than I have the expertise to answer. May I suggest that you go to a Chrysler/Dodge dealer parts counter and speak with the counter-person there about it? The main issue is probably not mechanical, but rather electronic controls and programming differences. I don't know whether there were changes made to the trans electo-mechanical controls between 1995 and 2000 and also there is the fact that in 1996 the OBD-II system came into effect which impacted the engine control systems which spill over into the trans control systems as well, so the etax controllers will probably not be interchangeable which then effects whether the trans from 2000 can be mated to the 1995 etax or will you have to change out the solenoid/valve body, etc. So you are taking a big chance to charge ahead with such a transplantation without speaking to the parts counter.
That is the best I can do.
Let me know what you find out and if you decide to do it what changes did you have to make. That way I will learn too.
Thanks for the question.
