Chrysler Repair: Starter Replacement, haynes repair manual, starter solenoid

Question
95 neon sohc. How to remove starter. Can only see one bolt (with ground wire). How many others. Haynes repair manual no help.

Answer
Hi Tom
My '96 Cirrus/Stratus manual shows that the 2.0SOHC starter motor is held in place by 2 bolts at 180 degrees to oneanother on the mounting flange. Note that the bolts are threaded from opposite sides to oneanother ( engine side, bell housing side). Are you sure that the wire is a ground wire? The only wire usually is a battery + wire combined with a wire from the alternator and that one is attached to the starter solenoid by a nut. The starter is usually grounded by its frame to the engine and a separate ground wire goes to a different attachment point on the engine. But that may not be the case for the Neon which I have no manual for. Be sure the battery is disconnected before dealing with the + wire because it is hot all time!
