Chrysler Repair: gas tank, vw van, chrysler 300m

Sometimes, at various gas stations, my tank will get filled halfway and the gas pump shuts off.  Then I cannot get anymore gas into the tank.  What's up with this?  This is a 2003 Chrysler 300m.

Hi Bob,
I haven't heard of this before with the 300m but I know that when a car has a pretty severe bend in the filler downtube the automatic shut off and also the interlock for the vapor recovery system that requires the nozzle to be fairly deeply inserted to prevent shut off of the pump can be triggered more or less sensitively from one brand of gas pump to another. (This is the case in my '75 VW van and '67 BMW, where I can't get any gas into it at some places because of the sharp bend). So just avoid those stations where there is a hassle with it.
