Chrysler Repair: replaced water pump 99 concorde, unburned fuel, plug wires

Question
I replaced the water pump and timing belt on my 99 concorde. Now the car will not start. I have checked the trouble codes and the computer shows none. Is it possible that I need to reset the computer. It cranks it just will not turn over.

Thanks

Answer
Hi Glen,
I may not have specific information for you if the engine is other than a 3.3 of 3.5 V-6. So if you write back mention which engine you have. Have you checked for the existence of spark by putting a spare spark plug in one of the plug wires removed from an in-place plug and then grounding its shell while a helper cranks the car? Do you hear the fuel pump run when you turn on the the ignition, for a couple of seconds? How about checking a plug after you crank the engine to observe if it has a residual unburned fuel smell to help verify that you are getting injection.  While you probably checked for timing alignment of the pulleys, maybe a measure of the compression would be in order to verify that you are getting compression at the required level. In the absence of codes, you need to go back to fundamentals to look for the cause of not catching.
I don't know of a reason for the computer to be 'reset', in fact I haven't heard of that procedure other than erasing of the codes, which happens if the computer is disconnected from the battery for a few minutes. That will erase all stored codes, but temporarily set a 12 code, I believe.
