Chrysler Repair: 1991 Chrysler NY v6 ignition module, fender roland, crank sensor

Question
I need to know the location of the ignition module on a Ft. whl. drive 1991 chrysler NY v6. Thank you!

Answer
Hi Robert,
There are three possible V-6's in 1991:
The 3.0L has the sensor unit in the distributor
The 3.3 and 3.8L have two sensors, bot mounted on the engine, one called a crank and one called a cam sensor.
If you have the 3.3 or 3.8, the crank sensor is near the bell housing between the engine and trans (it looks at the flex plate) and the cam sensor is near the passenger side engine mount. Both sensors are in a single unit located in the distributor body (remove the rotor by releasing its lock screw, then look under the protective lid) of the 3.0L.
The fault code for the crank signal is 11, and the fault for the injector sych signal (cam position sensor) is 54.
I hope this is responsive to your needs.
The rest of the ignition and fuel control is in the single board engine controller unit mounted on the inner fender.
Roland
