Chrysler Repair: 94 Chrysler Concorde Fuel Leak, V-6, fuel pressure regulator, chrysler concorde

Question
I just gave my 94 Concorde to my son who is driving it from Peoria IL to San Francisco CA;  He is stuck in Jackson Hole, WY with a fuel leak.  Car had just had $2,000 of upgrade/repair work done on it. 50,000 miles on it.  No probs getting from Peo. to Jackson Hole.  Filled tank this morning.  Started car.  Fuel "gushing" from underneath front and back.  Towed to repair shop.  They are telling him there's leak in the Fuel Regulator.  Any TSB's or recalls?  What should he ask mechanic?  Thanks.  I guess if you have to be stuck somewhere, Jackson Hole is a good place.  Approximate cost?

Answer
Hi Michele,
I doubt there is a TSB or recall but you could check with a dealer or call Chrysler in Detroit (but no doubt their lines are closed for the weekend). In any case, the regulator is very accessible and is a part that should cost under $100 and no more than an hour to replace. I would only be concerned about whether it is available in Jackson Hole or does it have to be shipped in. There should be very little labor time to replace a faulty fuel pressure regulator because it sits on top of the engine at the end of the tubing that supplies fuel to the fuel injectors. No big repair job at all. But you don't want to drive with it leaking because it is gas under pressure and that means engine fire if not repaired. Let me know if he is taken advantage of, or tell him that unless they can demonstrate to him that the repair involved more than simply removing and replacing the regulator and if so what they had to do.

P.S. Welcome him to California. I live about 35 mile south of S.F. in Palo Alto.
