Chrysler Repair: Chrysler 300m 2002 fuel filter, rubber hoses, chrysler 300m

Question
Can you tell me on the 2002 300M where the fuel filter is located?

Thank you!

Answer
I have to admit not having seen the 300M vehicle in detail, but if the typical Chrysler design is used, you would find it under the car, very near to the gas tank, clamped into the fuel line running sideways from the tank that carries the fuel forward to the engine (usually the line runs from the tank along a structural member toward the right side of the car takes a right turn and goes forward). There will actually be two lines side by side, a second return line that is needed so as to work in parallel with pressure regulator to maintain a constant fuel pressure for the injectors to operate reliably. So look for a little canister (of course if you bought a new you will know what to look for) with rubber hoses on each side and removable clamps and you have found it. If you intend to change the filter, be sure to wrap in in an absorbant rag when you get to the point of pulling one of the hoses off a nipple on the old filter because the fuel will be under some pressure even though you haven't run the car recently. Also, open the fuel cap and the filler door momentarily to release any pressure built up in the fuel tank before you begin removing the clamps on the filter. It is possible to electrically depressurize the system but that involves jumping the pins on the electrical connectors to the injectors which may be a bit more of a challenge to describe. The rag usually does the job well enough.
