Hey Roland On #13 Fuse There Is 12v On Both Sides Of The Fuse . On The 21 Pin Connector The Black And Yellow Wires Have A Good Ground I Also Tested The Red Wire And It Has A Full 12v At The Connector But The Blue Wire U Said Should Have 12v Has Nothing From Using My Multimeter. So I Ran An Ohms Test And The Blue Wire Reads As A Ground So Now Im Sure Thats The Problem Only Question Is How To Make That Blue Wire Have Power ? Maybe U Might Have A Few More Suggestions On Why That Wire Has No Power To It.. And Thank You For Ur Quick Reply To My First Question    -------------------------

Hi Mark,
Fortunately I have the wiring diagram for your car. The power for the system comes from fuse #13 which is supplied by one section of the ignition switch. So I would begin at that fuse and verify 12V on both posts when the key is in run and start positions. Then verify that it is also reaching pin 21 of the black connector at the dash on a dark blue trace wire. Pin 10 of that connector should also have 12V direct from the battery at all times on a red wire. This if for the voice alert function. There are two pins at the black cluster plug that should be grounded: pin 15 (yellow trace) and pin 6 (black/light green). So verify those as well.
If that check out reveals no issue, then I would be inclined to look into the cluster electronics to see if there is a capacitor that has opened up. It may not be easy to get a used replacement for the cluster.
Let me know what happens.

Hi Mark,
I am not sure that you were checking pin 21 which has a dark blue TRACE only (I assume it is overall "natural" with a thin dark blue stripe). The pin 21 is one of the end ones on the row of 11, in case the plug doesn't show any numbers. You should get 12V on it if you have the ignition key to "run" position, otherwise nothing. There is only one splice between fuse #13 and pin 21 so I doubt that is the reason if you really don't have the 12V. The dark blue wire you may have found to be 'grounded' is on pin 16 (middle of the row of 11) and it is the fuel level wire which would be nearly a ground, depending upon how much fuel is in the tank. So let me know if you aren't getting the 12V on the real pin 21. If you are, then it is time to look into the cluster electronics for any items that are identifiable, testable, and replaceable with off-the-shelf components.
As I said, it may just be a simple wear out of a capacitor, or it could be a crack in the circuit board (may one that is attached to pin 21

Hi Mark,
How about getting me the numbers of those pins that show voltage. The manual shows 1-10 on the side with the little bulge (next to #2), and then 11 begins the other side just below #1. Maybe one of them shouldn't have 12V or ? The color coding is a little difficult to read after 20 years.
And also, have you looked at the circuit board traces associated with the pins that are 12V? If there was a break where the pin connects to the trace or anywhere along the trace or the trace went to a capacitor then that might be something you could repair with a soldering gun. I suspect it is something like that, and that the whole cluster might be resurrected. Of course if you can find a working one cheap that is something else.

Hi Mark,
'Glad you found another unit. I wonder if the memory can be changed with a DRB II at Chrysler dealer rather than finding another one which will read something else that needs changing. I suspect if you bring in the old one and show them they will correct the new one to that reading. But, I wouldn't worry about it at this ripe old age of 20 years on the car...unless there is an issue that will get you caught up in bureaucracy.

Answer
Bill says fine. he is     wmvose@cox.net

Mention too that you have the New Yorker rather than a LeBaron if that makes a difference. He does know alot about Mikuni's.
Roland

Bill's response:

Sure, Roland, Let him email me. I will see if I can help him. I solved my
problem, I replaced the whole thing with a 2.2L TurboII

Subject: Mikuni Carb experience

Hi Bill,
An email acquaintance with a 2.6L '85 tells me he is a having a problem
with runaway idle. You came to mind as someone with experience with
this carb. If I gave him your email address would you give him a hand
with this? I will offer to send him the 30 or so pages from the '85
manual, but I really have never seen one of these babies.
So let me know if it is o.k., and let me know your email address you
would prefer him to use.
Thanks,
Roland
