Chrysler Repair: steering column, steering column, air bag

Question
i dont know if your familiar with this problem  but i'll ask. i have a  1988 chrysler 5th ave. the  steering column is very loose. it moves side to side, and up.(1) i have access to get a column from another car but i dont know anything about doing the work. i wrote to another person on here and was told to replace it. he said it would take about an hour to do. but i dont know how. can i get a step by step instruction on how to do it? i know im asking a lot but i really cant afford to pay much and sure cant buy another car. maybe i can do the job myself?
(2) is it dangerous to drive the car that way? what can happen at the worse? can the whole thing fall apart? i will appreciate any reply. thank you. dan.

Answer
Hi Dan,
I would be pleased to copy the pages from either the '87 or '89 shop manual that I have and mail them to you by U.S mail. The earlier one is virtually identical to the later one, except it assumes there is an airbag involved as well in the '89 instructions. So let me know which you have: air bag or no air bag? Sorry I don't have the '88 but it is no doubt identical to either of the ones I do have.
I don't think things will fall apart in the next week so just hold on tight and I'll get the pages to you. Send me your U.S. postal mailing address.
