Chrysler Repair: 2002 Town & Country LX, front end rattle, sway bar links, brake caliper

Question
this van has had new struts, monroe sensatracks, upper strut plates with bearings and sway bar links. all under carridge bolts checked for tightness and still has a banging noise every time you hit a small bump in the road. any suggestions as to what this may be?

Answer
Hi Tom,
I am not expert in front suspension of the van line, but based upon general familiarity with Chrysler designs about all I can think of that moves when the wheels go up and down and that you haven't mentioned already are the bushings on the control arm assembly or possibly you might be hearing the brake caliper rattle for lack of anti-rattle clips applied to the ears of the brake pads (these often fatigue or are not properly replaced when brake work is done.) So you might want to speak with the shop that did the front end work and see if they checked the bushings. You can remove a front wheel and look for the anti-rattle clips yourself. You might also look for any structural weakness in the main frame to which the control arms are attached. The shop that did the front end replacements might be able to simulate a bump and locate the source of the sound.
I wish I had a sure cure, but that is my best thinking.
Let me know when you find it what it turns out to have been.
