195 Chrysler Cirrus V-6 with 80,000 miles.  Starting a few months ago engine normally stalls within 45 seconds of starting.  After restarting it runs fine.  Stalls once in awhile if at idle for long time.  Chrysler not able to identify any problem through cars computer.  They performed the Engine Induction System cleaning process, serviced the throttle body and replaced the MAP sensor.  Doing those things did not correct the problem.  Upon rechecking they recommeded the cars distributor be replaced.  I am not confident that will correct the problem either.  SMOG check in December was fine.  The car runs fine otherwise and accelerates with no hesitation.
Would greatly appreciate any ideas you may have on what causes problem so I can have them checked out.
Thank you very much for any help you can give.

In going over what is what under the hood with my son, he spotted that one of the screws that holds the MAP Sensor to the manifold had been sheared off.  I had the Chrysler dealer replace the screw by drilling the old one out since they were the ones who put a new sensor in last January.  That did not solve the stalling problem, however.  Nothing else showed up on the cars computer, and nothing was found loose or otherwise not functioning properly.  My wife and I decided rather than spend anymore time or money on the car, we would trade it in.  We subsequently bought a new Toyota Corolla.  We didn't get much on the trade, but could not sell the Cirrus with the proplem it had.  I wanted to let you know that this is what we ended up doing and thank you very much for your time and effort in making suggestions to help clear the problem.  It must be a very unique one, but maybe someone will solve it if the car is not scrapped beforehand.  The Cirrus was otherwise a very nice looking car and has been in style since it was introduced.  We just kept it too long.

Thanks again very much.

Answer
Hi Carl,
Thanks for updating me on the fate of your car. I suspect that a competent Chrysler-familiar tune-up mechanic could have found out what the problem was. It is a shame to lose money when you have to trade-in the vehicle. I wish I could have been of more help to you.
I hope the Toyota Corolla serves you reliably in the future.
