Chrysler Repair: Emission system, oil filler cap, dodge spirit

Question
I recentaly bought a 1991 dodge Spirit 2.5  T-body injected. I have what seems to be excessive pressure in the engine (what should be going through the pcv valve {which is new} is comming out the oil filler cap and the oil dipstick tube) it has been a long time since i have had to work on an engine ,and can't remember where to start . Your help would be greatly apriciated ,Thank you for your time in reading this message and hope fully i'll hear from you soon

Answer
Hi George,
To make sure that the vacuum intake port into the manifold
via the PCV valve is open and operational, remove the hose that goes from the valve cover to the pcv valve at the valve, while the engine is idling. See if you hear a whistle and feel a vacuum when you place a finger over the exposed end of the PCV valve. If not, then remove the valve entirely and check from the end of the hose to and into the manifold with a wire probe to make sure that the passage is entirely open to the flow of gas. If it is, then the system should work. But also check that the channel from the valve cover to PCV valve via the tube is also open to the flow of gas. It could be that crud built up in the valve cover opening to the pcv system has been plugged up so that even though the valve is new and the tubing is open and air tight, the passage in side the valve cover to the tube is clogged with by-pass crud. If all of the system checks out, then it is possible that the engine has just worn so far as to have so much blowby that the PCV system can't handle it. How many miles are on the engine and is it using a lot of oil?
