Chrysler Repair: Dashboard lights, dashboard lights, variable intensity

Question
Where can I locate fuse for dash light. Dodge Intrepid ES 93 3.5

Answer
Hi DeeDee,
I don't haave the wiring diagrams for this car, but if you are saying that it is only the dash lights that are not working but that the lights for center console are working, then the problem is probably not a fuse because usually all the lights that have a variable intensity controllerd by the headlamp switch rotation shaft all are powered by the same single source of voltage. Rather if the dash lamps alone are out, then the ground wire from the instrument cluster is probably loose or making poor contact with the left side of the cluster support bar which is where the black ground wire is attached to provide the returen path to the battery (-) post (which is called the 'ground' of the system). So if it is just the instrument lamps I would get under the dash and look for a black wire coming from the cluster that goes to a screw attached to the support bracket of the instrument panel on the left side. Shake that wire and tighten it where it is secured.
If on the other hand all the dash and center console lights that vary in intensity are not working, then I would check any of the fuses that are labelled 'body control module' because that module is the source of the variable voltage to all those lights. If all the fuses are o.k., then you will need to check the wire from the variable rheostat on the headlamp switch that runs to the body control module.
