Chrysler Repair: 1999 Plymouth Breeze 2.4L Head Gasket Oil Leak, head gasket repair, head gasket leak

Question
Hi Pete,

I actually found what I think might be the answer to this question, but just wondered if you would provide the relevant shop manual pages (Roland offered to send them to Jay in a response dated 2/3/2005).

Our Breeze leaks 1 qt of oil/wk.  It has been diagnosed as a possible head gasket leak (we're not sure if the bolts just may need tightening).  My husband is fairly knowledgeable when it comes to car repair, but he's never tackled anything like this.  Can you advise on the magnitude of the work that needs to be done ie. man hours of labour, difficulty?

Also, my husband has been looking around at various autoparts dealers and has found that we need to buy "a head gasket repair kit" in order to fix the issue.  Is this so? Chrysler appears to be the cheapest at $170.  Could this be right?

Thank you for your assistance.

Answer
Hello
It is a very good price 170 for the uper head set does this include the head bolts?

It is four hours labor on the books at any good shop and u would be paying for 4 hours at least 65 an hour plus parts. as far as a manuial cant do .

But any parts sore will sell this made by haynes for 12 dollors and will give your husband step by step .

Good luck to u both please rate my serivice pete
