Chrysler Repair: A/C in car, jeep owner, chrysler cars

Question
The left side of my car does blows air, but when I turn on the heat only the left side gets hot and not the right side.  I have dual temp. gauges.  Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Jeep Owner

Answer
Hi Mike,
Thanks for telling me the vehicle. I suspect that the problem is in the door that send the incoming air past the heater core or by-passes that pathway so it won't get any heat off the core. There must be two separate doors in your system. Unfortunately I don't have any experience with Jeep vehicles. Because you have a split system you might be able to pull the control unit from the dash and observe how the left side and the right side respond differently to the control and thus fix what is wrong. But I believe that if you want to do your own troubleshooting of this system or any part of the Jeep a shop manual would tell you how to check it out. I have been able to get a good collection of manuals for Chrysler cars that I try to help people with by going to the auction site eBay and then you search for "Jeep shop manual" and wsit until one comes up for your year and model. I'd stick with the corporate manual (not a Chiltons or Haynes) which if you wait for one that is fairly priced and the shipping charge is under $5 (u.s. post office media mail) you can probably get one for a total of $15.
