Chrysler Repair: crank position sensor, crank sensor, cam sensor

Question
where is the crank position sensor located on a 1995 concord with 3.5 liter engine.

Answer
Hi Stan,
Unfortunately I don't have certain knowledge about the location. I do know that on the 3.3 and 3.8L engines it is in the plane of the torque converter drive plate, and so it actually is on the transmission side of the engine/transmission interface flange, on the cabin side of the powertrain rather close to the distance sensor which is located on the top of the transaxle housing extension. It may well be that its wires join that of the distance sensor in a common harness routed to the engine controller. So that is my best guess. That sensor and the cam sensor have unique fasteners which allow for some adjustment in order to get the tip at the exact necessary distance between the tip and the drive plate (in the case of the crank sensor) for the Hall effect to work properly. When you see it you'll recognize it!
