Answer
Hi Jatta,
Well for $787 you could certainly try some other approaches.
There is supposed to be a filter on the outlet of the tank so I would question doing all the other services except draining and cleaning the tank. In fact, I would begin by changing the filter and putting in the water dispersant and see what happens. That is something you can do yourself and the materials would be less than $20. Nothing to lose by that.  Then if the engine doesn't run better and the filter clogs up fast, it would prove the need to drain and flush the tank. But I would see if you can find another shop (assuming Deacon Jones is a Chrysler dealer) to do that job at a lower cost. Dealing with a gas tank is not rocket science! Then see how things go with a clean tank and a new filter. If the engine still is lagging then the fuel line/injector cleaning would be the last thing to do. These are independent jobs unrelated to oneanother for the most part, so doing it in step may save you some unnecessary costs. To change the filter you just have to block the left front wheel, jack up the right rear wheel, support it with a jack stand or other solid object, locate the filter (buy a new one beforehand), and remove the old on and put on the new one. Wrap the filer in absorbant cloth when you pull the hoses off so you don't spray gas on yourself (it will have a little residual pressure in the system). Then put the water dispersant in the tank, and see how she runs. Give it a chance to clear the water that is already in the lines by running it for a reasonable time period.
If the water they showed you looked really crappy then maybe the thing to do is try to find a shop that will clean out the tank and replace the filter only at a lower hourly rate, and give up on doing anything yourself.
