Answer
Hi Fouad,
Unfortunately I don't have any information as recent as the year 2000, and so I'm unable to give you authoritative information. You might check the owners manual section about the remote unlock/lock unit to see if it mentions under what conditions the lights would only blink for a few seconds. It sounds to me like it could be a message telling you something, but I just don't know. The theft control unit is often located behind the glove box (requires that you remove the glove box to get at it), and the body computer is also in the circuit (to turn the lights on and off). The body computer is often placed to the right of the passenger's shin, above what is called the kick panel. It is a module with two 25-pin plugs, and it also has the bell dinger. So listen to where the bell sound is coming from to find it. It might be that there is some dirt or water that got into one of the plug sockets which are on the top of the body computer. So you could dismount it and then examine the plugs and sockets for any signs of dirt or water which you could remove with electronics spray cleaner in a pressurized can. I wouldn't think that the theft module would be the cause of the problem. But if you do find it, be aware that you don't want to remove its plug without first starting the engine and have it running then when you remove its plug. Otherwise the unit will send a message to the engine computer that locks down the engine from being started. That is a theft prevention strategy.
I wish I could be more helpful but I can't claim expertise for vehicles later than '95.
