Chrysler Repair: Water in 98 Chrysler Cirrus, chrysler cirrus lxi, chrysler cirrus lxi 1998

Question
Chrysler Cirrus LXI 1998 2.5L V-6 24 valve

Water accumulates in the passenger floorboard.  I assume it comes from the air conditioning unit but I do not know where the drain line is or how to best access it.  Any recommendations?

Answer
Hi David,
While I don't have a picture of the Cirrus body details, the typical Chrysler location of the drain tube is on the engine compartment side of the firewall (or dash panel) that separates the engine from the cabin, fairly low on the panel and on the passenger side of the midline of the car (best viewed and accessed if you were to jack up the right front wheel) you would find a rubber tube protruding out that drains the evaporator in the cabin via a nipple coming through the firewall to the outside where it should normally drip water onto the ground. If it isn't completely blocked with debris you might see some water on the pavement under the vehicle (just above which you would find the tube) after using the air conditioner for a good bit of time. But if the tube were blocked then that drip mark wouldn't be there to look for. You can usually insert a flexible wire into the tube to clear it, and if the rubber fitting appears to be clamped at the panel, squeeze on the clamp and take off the tube to clean it out. Also clean the hole in the nipple to which the tube is clamped.
